Friday Feedback #44: Feedback needs to be motivating if it is to become part of your culture. Watch this for two examples of feedback that matches the recipient's values.

See 2 examples of motivational and good feedback and find out how you can do the same.

Because if your feedback isn' t motivating, the recipient won't want to receive it again - and that's bad for your culture.

Motivational feedback

We're seeing more leaders challenging that viewpoint here. They ask: "Should feedback be motivational?" and "Well, does feedback always have to be positive?"

Yes, yes, yes. And no.

Have you ever received feedback that left you motivated to make an effort? Then you know it doesn't have to be positive.

Have you ever experienced the opposite? Feedback that was probably relevant and correct, but left you unmotivated or too self-critical?

But what do you do? The video offers one important tip: you need to make an effort to know what your employees' values and interests are.

Based on that, you can give feedback that makes a difference to them. So you can proudly say that your feedback impacts employee wellbeing.

How to boost mental health in the workplace

Mental health is a crucial aspect of any workplace - and life in general - and fortunately, in recent years, there has been an increased focus on this aspect. However, mental health and wellbeing is not something that can be taken for granted and is crucial to both the quality of life of the individual and the performance of the business. So, it's no longer enough to ensure that employees are simply present in the workplace - it's important that they are happy and mentally well.
