Friday Feedback #33: Following up on feedback is essential to make contributors want to repeat their efforts. What do you do when someone has given you feedback? This video is number 3 in the series on effective meetings.

The theme is effective meetings

Hi it's Danni here and welcome to Friday Feedback.

In the last episode, I gave a simple recipe for getting feedback on your meeting.

Today we continue the theme of effective meetings with a hugely important topic: Action.

You said - We did

You said - we did"

You need to use this recipe if you want to positively influence your feedback culture.

In other words, you tell:

"Your input was this - Our action is this."

When you ask for feedback, you are already influencing your feedback culture.

If you follow up with action, you can positively influence it. However, if you follow up with forgetfulness or denial, you're damaging your feedback culture.

You damage trust in you and in the culture of the organization.

A difference in the values a company expresses and the values it lives by is perceived as far greater by employees than it is by managers.

So if there's a difference between what you say you do and what you actually do, your employees are bound to notice.

They probably talk about it behind the manager's back too.

Next time, after you've gotten feedback in a meeting, follow up with: "What I got from your feedback was this, so here's what we'll try to do today."

Once the meeting is over, you spend a few minutes on feedback again, and now you're creating a feedback culture. At least in those meetings.

Turn inspiration into action in your everyday life

What have you learned from getting feedback on your meeting management? And if you haven't received feedback yet, what feedback do you think people would give you?

Alternatively, share this video with a colleague and commit with them to seek feedback at your next meeting.

That's my invitation to you.

Thanks for watching.

Have fun and see you soon!
